Bridgewater, NJ- The Somerset Patriots have won the 2017 Liberty Division First Half Championship with Wednesday night’s win over the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs.
By winning the First Half Title, the Somerset Patriots have clinched a playoff berth and will make their fifth straight post-season appearance under manager Brett Jodie.
The Somerset Patriots have an Atlantic League best 41-25 record as the first half winds down this coming Sunday.
Entering Wednesday’s game with a Magic Number of 2, Somerset’s win and the Bridgeport Bluefish’s loss, have given the Patriots their entrance into the post-season. The Patriots held the tie-breaker over the Bluefish, winning the first half matchup 6-4.
The Half Championship is Somerset’s seventh First Half Championship and 18th overall.
