Sugar Land, TX – The Sugar Land Skeeters (33-29) shutout the Somerset Patriots (41-22) 5-0 Sunday afternoon from Constellation Field. These two squads split the four game weekend series.
In the bottom of the first inning second baseman Delwyn Young sliced a RBI single to give the Skeeters an early 1-0 advantage.
Left fielder Ryan Langerhans socked a RBI sacrifice fly to increase the Sugar Land lead to 2-0 in the bottom of the second inning.
The Skeeters added another run in the bottom of the third inning when right fielder Neil Medchill tallied a RBI sacrifice fly making the contest 3-0.
Center fielder Brian Barton stroked a RBI single in the bottom of the fourth inning to expand Sugar Land’s lead to 4-0.
Sugar Land plated its final run in the bottom of the seventh inning as first baseman Travis Scott socked a solo home run (5) to make the score 5-0.
Matt Wright (6-5) earned the win tossing six scoreless innings. Matt Langwell (3-6) suffered the lost hurling three innings while surrendering three runs.
