Police Log: Jan. 24 – 31, 2017

Jan. 24

  • A car driven by Timothy McDougald of Somerset was turning from Somerset Street to Franklin Boulevard when it hit Marlon Spann of New Brunswick as Spann was crossing the street. Spann complained of pain to his right side and was taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick.
  • Cathleen DeWitt of Somerset was cited for careless driving after her car rear-ended a car driven on Easton Avenue by Maria Jimenez-Demendez of New Brunswick.
  • Mary Bright of Somerset was cited for careless driving after her car struck a guardrail at Schoolhouse Road and Weston Canal Road. Bright told police she didn’t realize Schoolhouse ended at Weston Canal, and when she did, she tried to turn but her car kept going straight.
  • Fatmata Conteh of Somerset was cited for careless driving after her car collided with one driven by Jessica Herrera of Somerset. Herrera said she was driving her car on Westminster Road when Conteh’s car pulled out in front of hers.

Jan. 25

  • Dhavalkum Jain of Middlesex was cited for careless driving after his car rear-ended one driven on Amwell Road by Richard Roshak of Somerset. Jain initially told police that his brakes didn’t work well, but when they were found to be functioning normally, he said he was too close to Roshak’s car to stop in time. Roshak said traffic ahead of him stopped suddenly, causing him to stop suddenly, too.
  • Kawshar Kahn of Somerset was cited for careless driving after his car rear-ended a car driven on Easton Avenue by Cherrick Gordon of Somerset. Kahn said sun glare prevented him from seeing Gordon’s car.
