Patriots To Host The Sandlot 25th Anniversary With Tom Guiry Appearance

Bridgewater, NJ- The Somerset Patriots have announced that the team will host a 25th Anniversary Celebration of the movie The Sandlot with a special appearance by actor Tom Guiry at the Friday, July 27th game at TD Bank Ballpark.

Guiry played the lead role, Scotty Smalls, in the 1992 coming-of-age baseball classic.

Smalls moves to a new neighborhood in 1962 with his mom and stepdad and wants to learn to play baseball. Bennie “The Jet” Rodriguez, the neighborhood baseball guru, takes Smalls under his wing and he soon becomes part of the local sandlot baseball team. They fall into adventures involving baseball, tree house sleepovers, get into trouble with the lifeguard at the local pool, take on their rival ball team, and encounter the legendary ball-eating dog called “The Beast” when a Babe Ruth autographed baseball is hit into the dog’s yard.
