Bridgewater, NJ – The Somerset Patriots (24-17) defeated the York Revolution (13-28) 2-0 before 6,581 fans at TD Bank Ballpark on Friday evening.
The Patriots took the lead in the bottom of the fifth inning on a two-run blast by Mike Fransoso (2).
“I was just trying to help the team out,” said Fransoso of his game-changing homer. “It’s nice to get one at home in a meaningful game in a big spot that put us ahead. It was big and our pitching staff, especially [starting pitcher Liam O’Sullivan] did the rest.”
O’Sullivan (2-3) pitched seven scoreless innings, scattering six hits and striking out five for the win. Duke von Schamann (0-1) suffered the loss, allowing two runs on eight hits in 5.2 innings pitched. Mike Antonini came in to pitch a scoreless ninth inning for his league-leading 15th save.
