Bridgewater, NJ – The Somerset Patriots (36-27, 74-59) shut out the New Britain Bees (32-31, 68-65) 7-0 on Sunday afternoon at TD Bank Ballpark to take the crucial three game series over their division rivals.
The Patriots jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning on a two-run home run by Eric Farris (7).
Rob Kral powered Somerset to a 5-0 lead with a three-run home run (3) in the bottom of the second inning.
“I just kept on with the day-to-day process. I continued to work hard and work on my swing. Fortunately for me, things went my way today,” said Kral, who finished the game 2-for-3 with two runs scored, a home run, a triple, and three RBI.
The Patriots extended the lead with a run in the fourth inning on an RBI single by Vinny Zarrillo for a 6-0 advantage.
A Kyle Roller RBI groundout in the seventh inning made the score the 7-0 final.
Will Oliver (6-2) picked up the win with seven scoreless innings pitched. Nate Roe (5-2) suffered the loss, allowing five earned runs in two innings pitched.
The 2016 Somerset Patriots season presented by Ford will continue on the road for the remainder of the regular season.
