Lancaster, PA – The Somerset Patriots (42-16) defeated the Lancaster Barnstormers (25-33) 6-1 in 13 innings Tuesday evening at Clipper Magazine Stadium. The Patriots won their seventh consecutive game.
In the bottom of the fifth inning first baseman Brian Cavazos-Galvez punched a RBI single to give Lancaster a l-0 advantage.
Shortstop Nate Spears slugged a game tying home run (1) in the top of the sixth inning to make the score 1-1.
The Patriots erupted for five runs on five hits in the 13th inning to grab a 6-1 lead. Second baseman Greg Hopkins ripped a go ahead RBI double while Spears tacked on a RBI single. Designated hitter Thomas Neal clobbered a three RBI double to provide insurance.
Andrew Carignan earned the win (1-2) in relief. Scott Patterson suffered the loss (0-2) in relief.
