By Linda Powell.
This Project proposes building an industrial gas compressor station complex in Franklin, which would emit tons of airborne toxins for decades to come and constructing a 23.4 miles pipeline across Raritan Bay using 15,350 acres of seafloor workspace & distributing 117 acres of seafloor.
I Wish I knew…Is it too Late??
No, it’s not too late… yet. We have until May 14th, 2018 to comment to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) regarding their Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) published March 23rd, 2018.
There are so many known health and environmental impacts associated with the type of Compressor Station that is being proposed to be built in Franklin. The emissions from this type of compressor station are associated with lung diseases, including childhood asthma, birth defects, cancers including childhood leukemia, cardiovascular disease (strokes and heart attacks) and death and kidney failure among others. These toxins not only spew into our air but settle in the ground and effect our soil and water. See www.scrap-nese.org for more details.
The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) can stop this project by denying permits. We need to let FERC and the NJDEP know of our concerns by May 14th.
