Ducks Outlast Patriots 8-6 In Series Opener

Central Islip, NY – The Long Island Ducks (17-12, 57-42) defeated the Somerset Patriots (15-16, 53-48) 8-6 Monday evening at Bethpage Ballpark. Despite Carlos Guzman’s three hits and two RBI, the Patriots dropped the series opener against their division rival.

“Baseball is a game of inches and they got the breaks today,” said Guzman who has reached base safely in 13 of his last 17 plate appearances. “We’re all still confident. The way we have been swinging the bats, we know we have a chance every night.”
