Contracts totaling more than $40,000 for new carpeting in the Council Chamber, the Court and Police Department were awarded December 13 by the Township Council. Both contracts went to The Gillespie Group of Dayton.

New HVAC units and police cars were approved for purchase at the November 22 Township Council meeting. The Council awarded a contract worth $95,289 to Blackwood-based McCloskey Mechanical Contractors for four HVAC units for the construction code building.

Contracts worth more than $1.3 million for the resurfacing of two roads were approved July 12 by the Township Council. The largest of the contracts is for $671,940, for the resurfacing of Cortelyous Lane, which was awarded to Meco Inc. of Clarksburg.

Contracts worth more than $3 million in goods and services were approved by the Township Council in June. The Council authorized contracts totaling $913,281.60 at the June 14 meeting, and $2,274,154.55 at the June 28 meeting.

A $3 million bond ordinance to pay for a handful of road improvements in the Township was introduced by the Township Council at its May 24 meeting. The Ordinance sets aside $2,812,500 for the work.

Township Manager Robert Vornlocker presented the proposed budget to the Township Council. Updated: The Township Council unanimously passed the budget at its May 10 meeting. Township property owners will have to dig a little deeper when paying this year’s municipal property tax bill.

A $2 million decrease in water utility collections may lead to a rate increase during the year, the Township Council was told on March 15. Township auditor Andrew Hodulik told the Council during its second budget hearing that the utility’s fund balance decreased from $10 million to $8 million over the last year.
