Author Wheeler Antabanez will appear at the Franklin Township Library’s main branch on DeMott Lane to present a video tour of the old Boonton railway line, and sign his book on the same topic. The talk, entitled “Walking the Old Boonton Line: A Photographic Journey on the Abandoned Rails of New Jersey,” is scheduled for 1-2:30 p.m. June 24.

Franklin High School’s Spring musical, “Disney’s Descendants: The Musical,” takes the stage on March 24, 25, 26, 31 and April 1 and 2. Based on the popular Disney Channel Original Movies, Disney’s Descendants: The Musical  weaves a magical tale of good versus evil.

Franklin Parks & Recreation will host the 2nd annual Franklin’s Forever 55 “Got Talent” show on March 24. The doors will open at 4 p.m. for a prompt start time of 5 p.m. at the Community/Senior Center, 505 DeMott Lane.

Members of the SGS/HSCC Players are fine-tuning their performances in “The Wiz Jr.” ahead of opening night on February 17. The musical is an adaptation of the 1970’s hit, “The Wiz,” which itself was an adaptation of L. Frank Baum’s “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.”

A township-based arts organization was one of six in the county which received grants from the National Endowment for the Arts American Rescue Plan. The Ukrainian History and Education Center received $25,000 from the NEA, which was passed through the Somerset County Board of Commissioners.

A township resident will join his fellow musicians December 15 in performing a jazz concert at Raritan Valley Community College’s Welpe Theatre, 118 Lamington Road, Branchburg. Among the RVCC Student Jazz Ensemble is Christian Volpe of Somerset.

Celebrate the summer season and revel in the beauty of roses at the Rose Day Festival from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. June 11 at Colonial Park’s Rudolf W. van der Goot Rose Garden, 156 Mettlers Road, Parking Lot A. The festival, hosted by the Somerset County Park Commission and Park Foundation, is free.

Township resident Christian Volpe is scheduled to perform with the Raritan Valley Community College Jazz Ensemble during a concert at 7:30 p.m. May 5 in the Welpe Theatre at the College’s Branchburg campus. The group is directed by John Loehrke of New York City.
