Bridgewater, NJ- The Southern Maryland Blue Crabs defeated the Somerset Patriots 3-2 at TD Bank Ballpark on Friday evening.
Amadeo Zazueta’s two run home run (1) in the top of the second gave the Blue Crabs a 2-0 lead.
The Patriots tied it up in the bottom of the fourth on an RBI single by Eddy Martinez-Esteve and an error on an Adam Donachie double that allowed a run to score.
Southern Maryland regained the lead in the top of the fifth on a sacrifice fly by Dave Seppelt.
Blue Crabs starter Brian Burres (2-2) picked up the win, allowing two runs-one earned-on five hits in seven innings pitched. Patriots starter Erik Arnesen (2-2) suffered the loss, allowing three runs on six hits in eight innings pitched. Jim Ed Warden earned his fifth save of the season with a scoreless ninth inning.
