Bridgewater, NJ – The Somerset Patriots (19-11, 66-34) defeated the Camden Riversharks (12-17, 35-64) 7-5 in 10 innings Friday evening from TD Bank Ballpark. Brian Barden hit a pinch hit two run home run (5) to propel the Patriots to victory as they clinched the series.
In the bottom of the first inning the Patriots plated three runs to take an early 3-0 advantage. Designated hitter Daryle Ward slapped a RBI single, third baseman Corey Smith ripped a RBI double and right fielder Luis Montanez tallied a RBI sacrifice fly.
Center fielder Jonny Tucker socked a RBI sacrifice to give Somerset a 4-0 lead in the second inning.
Camden scored five runs in the top of the fourth inning to grab a 5-4 lead. Third baseman Bryan Pounds pounded a home run (10), catcher Jose Morales stroked a two RBI single and two more runs scored on fielding errors.
The Patriots evened the score at 5-5 in the bottom of the eighth as pitcher Michael Click threw a wild pitch to score second baseman Jeff Dominguez.
Somerset notched its seventh walk-off win of the season and second in as many nights.
Juan Rincon (1-0) earned the win in relief. Dan Blewett (3-3) suffered the loss in relief.
