Willow Creek Rehab and Care on Easton Avenue was the scene April 23 for the Franklin Township Chamber of Commerce’s 3rd annual Wine and Cheese Tasting. A variety of hot and cold food was offered, as well as a selection of wines supplied by Glendale Liquors of Kendall Park.

It took nearly two hours in closed session April 23, but the Board of Education eventually turned to one of its former members to fill an unexpired term. The board picked former board member Richard Seamon of Rue Chagall to fill the unexpired term of Richard Arline, who resigned because he is moving out of state.

The New Jersey Water Supply Authority will do some plantings along Cedar Grove Brook to help stem the flow of sediment into the water. Major crime in the township is on the decline, state police statistics show. Still, the statistics show, the township’s crime rate remains among the highest in Somerset County.

The township council has a message for drivers tired of getting their vehicles rattled when they travel over the Veronica Avenue and Clyde Road railroad crossings: Call Conrail. In fact, that message is posted on signs at each of the roads’ crossings.
