Bridgewater, NJ – The Somerset Patriots (38-32, 85-55) salvaged the series finale against the Bridgeport Bluefish (25-45, 47-93) 6-5 Sunday afternoon from TD Bank Ballpark.
In the bottom of the second inning catcher Adam Donachie ripped a two run home run (9) to give Somerset a 2-0 advantage.
First baseman Jake Fox socked a RBI single in the home half of the third inning to expand the Patriots lead to 3-0.
Shortstop Edwin Maysonet tallied a RBI sacrifice fly to increase the Somerset lead to 4-0 in the bottom of the fourth inning.
The Bluefish scored three times in the top of the sixth inning to cut the deficit to 4-3. Designated hitter Joe Mather pounded a RBI double and catcher Luis Rodriguez rocketed a two RBI single.
The Patriots plated a pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth inning as left fielder Ty Wright blasted a two run home run (13) to make the score 6-3 in favor of Somerset.
Second baseman Ramon Castro belted a RBI double to dwindle the Bluefish deficit to 6-4 in the top of the seventh inning.
Castro slapped a RBI single in the top of the ninth inning to make the score 6-5 which would be the final.
Josh Lowey (3-0) earned the win tossing five scoreless innings while scattering two hits. Matt Iannazzo (4-11) endured the loss hurling eight innings while giving up six runs. Jon Hunton notched his Atlantic League leading 49th save.
