Bridgewater, NJ – The York Revolution (9-6, 50-35) defeated the Somerset Patriots (8-8, 54-31) 5-3 Friday evening in the middle game of a three game series from TD Bank Ballpark.
In the bottom of the first inning third baseman Corey Smith sliced a RBI single to give Somerset an early 1-0 advantage.
York evened the score at 1-1 in the bottom of the third inning as center fielder Sean Smith smacked a solo home run (5).
Shortstop Wilson Valdez gave York a 2-1 lead in the top of the fifth inning as he laced a RBI single.
The Patriots grabbed the lead in the bottom of the seventh inning when Smith (9) and right fielder Luis Montanez (11) hit back-to-back solo home runs to make the score 3-2.
The Revolution plated a pair of runs in the ensuing half inning to take a 4-3 lead as third baseman Travis Garcia and catcher Salvador Paniagua drilled RBI singles.
First baseman Chad Tracy slugged a RBI double in the top of the ninth inning to increase the Revolution lead to 5-3 which would be the final score.
Mark Hendrickson (2-0) earned the win tossing two thirds of an inning in relief. Jason Lowey (4-1) suffered the loss hurling one frame while allowing two runs. Rommie Lewis pitched a scoreless ninth inning to earn the save (23).
