York, PA – The York Revolution (2-0, 43-29) defeated the Somerset Patriots (0-2, 46-25) 11-5 Tuesday evening from Santander Stadium. The game was delayed 91 minutes in the second inning due to rain.
In the top of the first inning third baseman Corey Smith socked a RBI double to give the Patriots an early 1-0 advantage.
York plated a pair of runs in the bottom of the first inning as first baseman Johan Limonta drilled a RBI triple while designated hitter Chad Tracy hit a RBI sacrifice fly to give the Revolution a 2-1 lead.
The Patriots scored three runs in the top of the third inning to grab a 4-2 lead. Designated hitter Ty Wright hammered a RBI double while third baseman Corey Smith clubbed a two run home run (8).
The Revolution tallied six runs as they batted around in the bottom of the fourth inning to take an 8-4 lead that they’d never relinquish. Third baseman Travis Garcia roped a RBI double, right fielder Justin Greene clobbered a three RBI triple, a run scored on a Smith fielding error and shortstop Wilson Valdez hit a RBI sacrifice fly.
Tracy spanked a solo home run (10) in the bottom of the fifth inning to up the advantage to 9-4 in favor of York.
Catcher Adam Donachie hit a RBI groundout to cut the deficit to 9-5 in the top of the sixth inning.
York added a pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth inning as Greene smacked a RBI double and Limonta tallied a RBI single as the score grew to 11-5.
Beau Vaughan (4-2) earned the win tossing four innings while allowing just one run. Matt Zielinski (7-3) suffered the loss as all three of his losses have occurred against the York Revolution.
