A former teacher of autistic and emotionally disturbed children has been named the interim Director of Pupil Personnel Services for the school district.
Terrance R. Brennan will start the position on July 14, according to a release from the district. He was named to the position at the June 26 Board of Education meeting.
Brennan is the former interim schools Superintendent for High Point Regional High School and was the schools Superintendent for Pompton Lakes and Middlesex school districts.
“Dr. Brennan will not only bring a broad perspective to this position, having served as a Superintendent of Schools in other districts, but also years of specific experience providing for the needs of students with special needs,” interim schools Superintendent LeRoy Seitz said in the release.
“I look forward to bringing my experience to Franklin Township Public Schools and supporting our most fragile students,” Brennan said in the release.
The Department of Pupil Personnel includes programs for students classified as having special needs both within the district and who have been placed in an out of district setting, the home instruction program for all students, nursing services and services for homeless students, according to the release. Currently there are 1,124 students who are classified as having special needs who attend township schools.
