A township woman was arrested late last month at the Somerset County Courthouse, Somerville, after Sheriff’s Officers found empty heroin folds and prescription medicine in her purse.
Beatriz Rivera of Franklin Park was charged on March 27 with 3rd-Degree possession of a controlled, dangrous substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, a disorderly persons offense, according to a release on the arrests issued April 7 by the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office.
Rivera was going through the screening process at the courthouse entrance when the paraphernalia was found, according to the release. Her purse was on a conveyor belt which passes under an x-ray machine; the purse spilled open and Sheriff’s Officer Thomas Carlucci Jr. saw the heroin folds and prescription drugs which were not prescribed to Rivera.
Rivera was released on her own recognizance, pending a court appearance, according to the release.
