A township man was wounded and another arrested on gun related charges in separate incidents over the Memorial Day Weekend. In total, there were three incidents involving guns over the weekend, according to a press release from the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office. That brings to seven the number of shooting incidents in the township over the past two months. The incidents have resulted in five people wounded. The injury occurred in the second shooting incident, according to the press release. At about 3:03 a.m. May 28, township police received a 9-1-1 call about gunshots being fired in the area of Victor Street, and that someone had been shot, according to the release. A 33-year-old man who was found by police in a Victor Street home had been shot in the shoulder, the release said. The wound was not life-threatening, and the man was treated by police before being taken to a local hospital for emergency treatment, according to the release. The investigation showed that the man was on the second floor of the home when a stray bullet came through a window and hit him in the shoulder, the release said. Several 9mm shell casings were found outside the home. Detectives from the Franklin Township Police Department along with detectives from the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit, and Crime Scene Investigations and Forensics Unit conducted the investigation, eventually executing a search warrant for a next door home, according to the release. The search revealed a .22 caliber assault handgun with a magazine capable of holding 50 rounds of ammunition, according to the release. David Anderson, 28, who police identified as an "occupant of the building," was charged with 2nd Degree possession of an assault weapon, 2nd Degree possession of weapon by certain person, and 4th Degree possession of a high capacity magazine, according to the release. At about 8:58 p.m. on May 27, police responded to a 9-1-1 call of gunshots at a Minetta Road home. The caller told police that he heard about five shots, and a bullet hole was found in a bedroom wall in the home, according to the release. At about 6:50 on May 29, police received a 9-1-1 call of three men shooting a handgun across Route 27, toward New Brunswick, in the area of Millstone Road and Somerset Street, according to the release. Witness told police that the men, who were only described as being black, were seen running north on Fuller Street. There were no reported injuries.
