Jan. 17
- Felix Vargas of Somerset was walking in an Easton Avenue parking lot, to his car, when he was struck from behind by a driverless car. Raymond Goodwin of Somerset told police that he had pulled into a spot, and got out of the car while it was running, with his grandson still inside. He said he must have forgotten to put the car into park, because when he closed the door it started moving backwards and hit Vargas.
- Asia Irish of Franklin Park was cited for driving with a suspended license after her car collided with one driven by Francis Guglielmo of Somerset. Guglielmo said his car was struck while he was entering the intersection of Canal and Blackwells Mills roads. Irish said Guglielmo went through the stop sign.
Jan. 18
- Nathaniel Curry of Somerset was cited for careless driving and failure to show driving credentials after his car rear-ended one driven by Louise Spedaliere of North Brunswick on Route 27. The impact pushed Spedaliere’s car into one driven by Shao Jinang of Piscataway.
- Adam Abdalla of Monmouth Junction was cited for careless driving after the car he was driving collided with one driven by Kelly Mesinger of Monmouth Junction on Cedar Grove Lane. Mesinger was in the right lane, she said, when Abdalla’s car switched from the left lane into hers. Adballa said he did not see Mesinger’s car.
- Stephany Hernandez of Somerset was cited for driving without insurance after her car rear-ended one driven on Easton Avenue by Valerie Romito of Robbinsville. Hernandez said she started to cough and did not see that Romito’s car had stopped.
Jan. 19
- Fouad Kamara, 27, was arrested on a warrant from East Windsor.
- Joel Mastrian of Milford was cited for careless driving and following too closely after his car rear-ended one on South Middlebush Road driven by Bharat Kirthivasan of Dayton.
- Dino Ganas of Mountainside was cited for failure to yield the right-of-way after his car collided with one driven by Eric Hague of Somerset. Hague said he was turning left from Elizabeth Avenue to Campus Drive when his car was hit by Ganas’. Ganas said he did stop and did not see Hague’s car.
- Odelaisy Vera-Perez of Keasby was cited for careless driving after her car rear-ended one on Franklin Boulevard driven by Marcy Kennedy of Somerset.
Jan. 20
- Ishorne Ramsey, 29, was arrested on three outstanding warrants. The arrest occurred after police responded to an activated hold-up alarm at a credit union. Ramsey, police said, was part of a three-person cleaning crew that met police when they arrived. A credential check turned up the warrants.
- Monica Brown of North Brunswick was cited for making an improper turn and driving without insurance after her car collided with one at Route 27 and Kevin Apuzzio Avenue. Brown said she did not see an oncoming car on Rt. 27 as she was making her turn. Elvin Rogel of New Brunswick, whose car collided with Brown’s, was cited for driving without a license and driving an unregistered vehicle.
- A car driven by Ricardo Cortes of North Brunswick was stopped in traffic on Easton Avenue when it was rear-ended by a car driven by Daniel Wang of Bridgewater. Wang said he could not stop in time to avoid the crash.
- Cars driven on Hillview Avenue by Babatunde Somefun of North Brunswick and Donna Barksdale of Somerset collided. Somefun said he was turning left into a driveway, with his blinker activated, when Barksdale’s car passed him on the left and they collided. Barksdale said Somefun was stopped in the street with no blinker on, and she went around him when his car turned into hers. She said he activated his blinker after the accident.
Jan. 21
- A 2001 Nissan Maxima was stolen from the driveway of a Dayton Avenue home, but was later recovered, police said. Also stolen from another car parked outside the home was a black jacket valued at $100.
- Someone tried to break into a Sherborne Street home through a patio door.
- Doodnauth Tulshi of Somerset was cited for reckless driving and making an unsafe lane change after his car left the road on Amwell Road and struck several trees and a fire hydrant before flipping over.
Jan. 22
- A 2011 Mazda 3 was stolen from in front of an Edith Drive home.
- A $5 bill and $3 in change was taken from an unlocked car parked on Hawthorne Drive.
- A brown Coach wallet valued at $50 was stolen from an unlocked car parked on Cooper Avenue.
- Two pair of Michael Kors sunglasses, valued at $180 each, were stolen from a cart parked on Rodney Avenue.
- A pair of Oakley sunglasses valued at $225 and a pair of Ray Ban sunglasses valued at $125 were stolen from an unlocked car parked on Poe Avenue.
- Three cell phones valued at $120 and $20 in cash were stolen from a car parked on Hawthorne Drive.
- Someone stole $577 worth of Gillette replacement razors from Stop & Shop on Easton Avenue.
Jan. 23
- A Dell laptop computer valued at $1,100, a Samsung cell phone valued at $750, an Apple iPad valued at $700 and a cell phone charger valued at $50 were stolen from a Gallop Lane home.
- Braun Wright of Somerset was driving down Hamilton Street when, she said, a car went through a stop sign at Millstone Road, hit her car, and then fled back down Millstone. The car was described as a black Chrysler 300 with tinted windows and no front license plate.
- Elethia Rex of Fords was cited for careless driving after her car collided with one driven by Joel Salko of Glen Gardner at Easton Avenue and Cedar Grove Lane. Salko said Rex’s car turned right in front of his on Easton, and he could not stop in time.
Jan. 24
- Someone drove away from the BP gas station on Hamilton Street without paying for $28 worth of gas.
- About $2,400 worth of items were stolen from a Saddle Court home. Taken were a Lenovo laptop valued at $1,200, an HP laptop valued at $950, 12 white metal cups valued at $180, $100 in cash and personal papers.
Jan. 25
- Someone tried to break into a Jordans Circle home.
- Alyssa Puleo of Port Reading, 19 and Jamie Sorenson, 31, of Woodbridge were charged with shoplifting after they were allegedly caught trying to leave Stop and Shop on Easton Avenue without paying for 16 multi-pack Gillette razors valued at $490. There was no information on whether they were implicated in the Jan. 22 shoplifting incident.
- A pearl necklace valued at $500 and personal papers were stolen from an Appleman Road home.
- Someone threw an umbrella stand through the back window of a Hill Avenue home and stole $2,000 worth of items. Taken were a purse valued at $1,000, a Sony PS4 game console valued at $500 and two gold bracelets valued at $500. The window was valued at $500.
