Franklin Park Man Critically Injured After Hamilton Street Crash

A 68-year-old Franklin Park man was reported in critical condition Oct. 22 after he was involved in an auto accident on Hamilton Street.

Police said the man, who was not identified, was driving a 2001 Ford Expedition along Hamiton Street, near Sydney Place at around 11:53 a.m. when he apparently suffered a medical emergency. The car left the road and struck a parked 1996 Dodge Ram.

When township police Sgt. Teddy Cerra and officer Kenneth Reid arrived on the scene, they found the man in his car, unresponsive and unconscious, according to a release from township police. The officers removed the man from his auto and started CPT until a pulse could be detected.

The man was transported to an area hospital, where he was admitted in critical condition, according to the release.

Members of the Franklin Township Police Department’s Traffic Safety Bureau investigated. Hamilton Street was shut down for approximately three hours during the investigation, according to the release.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Cpl. Michael Deutchman of the Franklin Township Police Department’s Traffic Safety Bureau at (732) 873-5533 extension 3110.
