The first step toward financing the township’s $2.5 million 2014 road program was taken at the June 24 Township Council meeting.
The council approved on second reading a bond ordinance for about $2.4 million of the cost, which will cover 27 township roads.
The work will include milling, paving overlay and resurfacing of the roads.
Included in the program are:

- Canal Road from Suydam to Butler roads
- Canal Road from Blackwells Mills to Suydam roads
- Churchill Avenue from Veronica Avenue to Route 27
- Commerce Drive
- Delmonico Avenue
- Executive Drive
- Franklin Square Drive
- Hadler Drive
- Heather Drive
- John F. Kennedy Boulevard from Renfro Road to Berger Street
- Jensen Drive
- Kent Place
- Lafayette Avenue
- Layne Road
- Lewis Street from Berry Street to Franklin Boulevard
- Louis Place
- MacAfee Road
- Marcy Street
- Memorial Drive
- Olcott Street
- Pierce Street from Cottontail Lane to Belmont Drive
- Queens Place
- Sanders Avenue
- Smith Road from Olcott Street to Doria Road
- Smithwold Road
- Tamarak Road
- Tunnel Road
Township Councilman james Vassanella (D-Ward 5) said there was no way yet to say when which road would be worked on because too many factors go into the scheduling.
