

Update: Somerset County Crime Stoppers has increased to $1,000 the reward for information leading to the arrest of the Lewises.
Original Story: A township father and son – one considered armed and dangerous – are wanted by police in connection with the Jan. 4 shooting of a man on Dewald Avenue.
Jaki N. Hooks-Lewis, 20, and his father, Jason Lewis, 43, both of Dewald Avenue, are being sought by police, according to a press release from the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office.
On Jan. 4, a 31-year-old man was with a gunshot wound to his leg was found by police outside a Dewald Avenue home. Police were responding to multiple 9-1-1 calls about shots being fired.
Hooks-Lewis was identified as the shooter in the incident and has been charged with 2nd Degree Aggravated Assault. The elder Lewis has been charged with 3rd Degree Hindering Apprehension for allegedly assisting his son in leaving the area after the shooting, according to the release.
Police said that Hooks-Lewis is considered armed and dangerous, and cautioned the public against approaching him. Somerset County Crime Stopers has announced a reward for information leading to the arrest of either man.
