Two road construction projects in different parts of the township promise to snarl traffic for a while.
Work planned for a section of DeMott Lane is expected to last into September, while another project on Route 27 in Franklin Park is slated for the weekend of Aug. 26-29. Both projects will result in road closures.
The route 27 project is slated to begin at 9 p.m. Aug. 26 and last through 6 a.m. Aug. 29. The work, which is federally funded, will entail installing a temporary bridge in preparation for a drainage project scheduled for later this summer, according to a notice from Franklin Township.
The work will result in the closure of Rt. 27 between Route 518 and Promenade Boulevard in both directions for the duration of the project, according to the notice.
Drivers are encouraged to use alternate routes, but detours will be posted.
The DeMott Lane roadwork has already begun, and is expected to last three weeks.
The road will be closed between Emerson and Fairfield roads from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, according to a notice from the township.
Detours will be posted, according to the notice.
