Life Story: Helen Koza, 94; Member Of Franklin Township Senior Citizens Club

Helen Koza, 94, passed away December 24 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick.

Mrs. Koza was born November 19, 1924 in Newark to the late Jon and Pauline (Soltys) Glodek. Helen lived in Somerset for more than 40 years and was previously from Irvington. She was a sales associate for Goldfingers Children’s Store in Irvington and shortly after she relocated, she worked at the A&P in Somerset.

Helen was a longtime parishioner of St. Matthias Church in Somerset. She was also a member of the Franklin Township Senior Club. Helen enjoyed painting, gardening and sewing; especially loved quilting. Above all, she was an adoring grandmother and cherished spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband, John Koza, her son, John Koza Jr.; her brothers, Joseph Glodek and Stanley Glodek; her sisters, Mary Glodek and Lottie D’Anton.

She is survived by her daughter, Phyllis Wlazlo and her husband Larry; her daughter in law, Barbara Koza; her sister, Marianna Hospod; her brother, John Glodek. Her four grandchildren, Stephen, Michael, Brian and Thomas; her five great grandchildren, Olivia, Lane, Logan, Gabriel and Lucas and many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends may visit from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. on Friday, December 28th at Gleason Funeral Home, 1360 Hamilton Street.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, December 29, 2018 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Matthias Church in Somerset. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Piscataway.
