Vince Molesky Shines In Patriots 4-1 Win

Bridgewater, NJ- The Somerset Patriots (20-12) defeated the Road Warriors (9-25) 4-1 at TD Bank Ballpark on Sunday afternoon.

Vince Molesky (1-0) allowed just one hit and struck out nine batters over six innings for his first win of the season.

“Ultimately I just wanted to take what I’ve been doing out in the bullpen and transition that into being a starter,” said Molesky. “I wanted to take that bulldog approach and attack each hitter with everything I got and lay it all out on the line.”

The Patriots took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning on a two-run single by Alfredo Rodriguez.

Danny Dorn’s RBI single in the bottom of the third inning gave Somerset a 3-0 advantage. Dorn later added a sacrifice fly in the fifth inning to make the score 4-0.

The Road Warriors got their lone run in the top of the seventh inning on an RBI single by Alfredo Silverio for the 4-1 final.

Brandon Bargas (0-2) suffered the loss, allowing four runs -three earned- on five hits and seven strikeouts in six innings pitched. Ryan Kelly earned his sixth save of the season with a scoreless ninth inning pitched.
