Villagers Theatre Plans Special Events For ‘Yellow Brick Road’ Campaign

Villagers Theatre, 475 Demott Lane, Somerset, is continuing its Yellow Brick Road fundraising efforts with two special programs in October.

Filling in the Blanks, a new play written and directed by Khy Garner, runs from October 7 to 9. Shows are 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. on Sunday with tickets at $15.

On October 15, Carrie Jackson returns by popular demand in Jazz Cabaret. The show starts at 7 p.m. Tickets are $20 and include dessert. All tickets can be purchased online at www.villagerstheatre.com or by calling the box office at 732-873-2710.

Villagers Theatre has been providing quality entertainment to Somerset and surrounding communities for more than 50 years. Their theatre skills programs have trained many youth and provided a springboard for later successes on and off Broadway. But now Villagers needs your help. In the fall of 2015, Villagers launched its Yellow Brick Road campaign to raise $250,000 to replace most of the units which provide heat and air conditioning to the building and to make other needed repairs and upgrades. The cornerstone of their campaign is the sale of yellow colored, personalized bricks to be installed as a yellow brick road adjacent to the theatre.

“I encourage anyone who has ever seen a show at Villagers or who values live theatre, to consider purchasing a brick to help the theatre continue as a viable community venue,” said Linda Giordano, fundraising chair. “Personalized bricks are a permanent way to recognize your family, celebrate special events, make unique gifts, and memorialize loved ones.” Readers may access the theatre website www.villagerstheatre.com to purchase a brick or call the theatre directly at 732-873-2710.
