Vidal Lifts Somerset To Victory

Bridgeport, CT– The Somerset Patriots (31-37, 73-65) pieced together a 5-2 victory over the Bridgeport Bluefish (35-34, 76-63) on Saturday night, led by a four-RBI night from David Vidal.

Bridgeport struck first with an RBI triple by Andrew Lambo to score Welington Dotel for the game’s first run.
The Patriots answered in the third, tying the ball game on an RBI double from Aharon Eggleston. Later that inning, David Vidal put Somerset out in front with a bases-loaded, three-run double to make it a 4-1 game.
With Lucas Irvine on the mound, Bridgeport would chip away at the lead in the bottom of the fifth. Dotel drove in Luis Hernandez with a double to trim the deficit to 4-2.
Vidal struck again in the top of the eighth when he launched a solo home run (1) to left field to push the lead up to 5-2.
Lucas Irvine (9-4) earns the win after tossing five innings of two-run baseball. Matt Quintana (0-2) is handed the loss after giving up four runs (all earned) in just 3.1 innings on the mound. Dustin Antolin pitched a scoreless ninth to pick up the save (4).
Somerset returns on Sunday to take on the Bluefish for the final game of the 2017 regular season. Patrick Johnson (1-2) is set to face off with Manny Parra (3-4) in the rubber game of this three-game series at the Ballpark at Harbor Yard.
