Township Volunteers Plant Trees For Arbor Day

Volunteers with the township’s Shade Tree and open Space committee’s celebrated Arbor Day April 25 by planting 40 trees in the Negri-Nepote Native Grassland Preserve on Skillmans Lane.

The trees planted were American Holly, anew ere supplemented by cranberry bushes, said Chris Williams of the Shade Tree Committee.

“Everything we’re planting produces berries for the birds,” Williams said. “We took out all the invasive species.”

Fran Varacalli, the township’s environmental consultant, said the preserve is a favorite among birders.
