Township Residents On The Move In Higher Education

Iqra Asghar of Franklin Park, NJ, class of 2018, was named to the Tufts University dean’s list for the Spring 2016 semester. Dean’s list honors at Tufts University require a semester grade point average of 3.4 or greater.

Brandon Pugnet of Somerset has been named to the 2016 spring semester Dean’s List at Lafayette College for outstanding academic achievement. To qualify for Dean’s List, a student must achieve at least a 3.60 semester grade point average on a scale of 4.0.

Rasheema Clarke of Franklin Park graduated from SUNY Oneonta on May 14, 2016, with a BS in Fashion and Textiles. More than 1,000 graduates who completed the requirements for bachelor’s degrees, master’s degrees and certificates of advanced study participated in three main ceremonies in the Dewar Arena of the Alumni Field House.

Cristina Canestri, of Franklin Park earned Dean’s List honors at Saint Joseph’s University for the Spring 2016 semester. Canestri studies Biology in the University’s College of Arts & Sciences. Students must achieve a grade point average of 3.5 or above, a B or greater in all their classes, and complete at least 15 credits to earn dean’s list status for a semester.

Michael Brown of Somerset graduated from Hofstra University in May 2016, earning a Master of Arts in Industrial/Organizational Psychology.

In Commencement exercises on May 17, 2016, FDU conferred more than 3,000 degrees, ranging from associates to doctorates, on graduates, at MetLife Stadium. The following township residents were among the graduates:

  • Shalette Brown has earned a BA in communication studies at FDU’s Florham Campus, in Madison, NJ.
  • Colin Sayre, of Somerset has earned a BA in interdisciplinary studies at FDU’s Metropolitan Campus, in Teaneck, NJ.
  • Manuel Garcia, of Somerset has earned a BA in individualized studies at FDU’s Metropolitan Campus, in Teaneck, NJ.
  • Giovanna Hernandez, of Somerset has earned a BA in individualized studies at FDU’s Metropolitan Campus, in Teaneck, NJ.
  • James Klawitter, of Somerset has earned a BA in individualized studies at FDU’s Metropolitan Campus, in Teaneck, NJ.
  • Sarah Doctor, of Somerset has earned a BS in marketing at FDU’s Florham Campus, in Madison, NJ.
  • Darrel Gooding, of Somerset has earned a BS in electrical engineering technology at FDU’s Metropolitan Campus, in Teaneck, NJ.
  • Oghenefega Akporotu, of Somerset has earned a BSN in Nursing at FDU’s Metropolitan Campus, in Teaneck, NJ.
  • Gargi Patel, of Franklin Park has earned an MHS in Health Science and a PharmD in Pharmacy at FDU’s Florham Campus, in Madison, NJ.
  • Mohamed Daramy, of Somerset has earned an MPA in Public Administration and a PharmD in Pharmacy at FDU’s Florham Campus, in Madison, NJ.
  • Prema Ramashwar, of Somerset has earned an MSN in Nursing at FDU’s Metropolitan Campus, in Teaneck, NJ.

The following township residents, students at Fairleigh Dickinson University’s Florham Campus, located in Madison, have been named to the Dean’s and Honors Lists for the Spring 2016 semester.

  • Danah Lassiter of Somerset has been named to the Honors List. To qualify for the Honor’s List, a student must carry a 3.5 or better grade point average out of a possible 4.0 and be enrolled in a minimum of 12 letter-graded hours (four courses).
  • Amy Slobodzian of Somerset has been named to the Honors List. To qualify for the Honor’s List, a student must carry a 3.5 or better grade point average out of a possible 4.0 and be enrolled in a minimum of 12 letter-graded hours (four courses).
  • Ashley Krushinski of Somerset has been named to the Honors List. To qualify for the Honor’s List, a student must carry a 3.5 or better grade point average out of a possible 4.0 and be enrolled in a minimum of 12 letter-graded hours (four courses).
  • Shalette Brown of Somerset has been named to the Dean’s List. To qualify for the Dean’s List, a student must carry a 3.2 or better grade point average out of a possible 4.0 and be enrolled in a minimum of 12 letter-graded hours (four courses).
  • Mark Carr of Somerset has been named to the Dean’s List. To qualify for the Dean’s List, a student must carry a 3.2 or better grade point average out of a possible 4.0 and be enrolled in a minimum of 12 letter-graded hours (four courses).
  • Yaneyris Rodriguez of Somerset has been named to the Dean’s List. To qualify for the Dean’s List, a student must carry a 3.2 or better grade point average out of a possible 4.0 and be enrolled in a minimum of 12 letter-graded hours (four courses).

The following township residents, students at Fairleigh Dickinson University’s Metropolitan Campus, located in Teaneck, have been named to the Dean’s and Honors Lists for the Spring 2016 semester.

Colin Sayre, of Somerset, has been named to the Dean’s List. To qualify for the Dean’s List, a student must carry a 3.2 or better grade point average out of a possible 4.0 and be enrolled in a minimum of 12 letter-graded hours (four courses).

Emanuel Osano, of Somerset, has been named to the Dean’s List. To qualify for the Dean’s List, a student must carry a 3.2 or better grade point average out of a possible 4.0 and be enrolled in a minimum of 12 letter-graded hours (four courses).

The following township residents are Fairleigh Dickinson University students who have been inducted into FDU’s Phi Zeta Kappa and Phi Omega Epsilon honor societies for the Spring 2016 semester:

  • Danah Lassiter, a resident of Somerset, and a student at FDU’s Florham, has been inducted into the Phi Omega Epsilon honor society. Eligibility for membership in the University’s senior honor society is established by completing at least 90 earned credits toward an undergraduate degree with a CGPR of 3.50. Of these 90 credits, the last 58 must have been taken at the University, and a CGPR of 3.20 must have been maintained for all of them. All the preceding requirements must have been fulfilled prior to the accumulation of 112 credits. Transfer students who are unable to fulfill the prerequisite 58-credit requirement will be able to establish eligibility if they have taken at least 32 credits prior to the accumulation of 112 credits and if they have maintained a CGPR of 3.50 during their entire career at Fairleigh Dickinson.
  • Gabrielle Kissi, a resident of Somerset, and a student at FDU’s Florham, has been inducted into the Phi Zeta Kappa honor society. Eligibility for membership in the University’s junior honor society is established by completing at least the first 60 credits toward an undergraduate degree. Of these, 44 must have been earned at Fairleigh Dickinson and a CGPR of 3.20 must have been maintained for all of them. All the preceding requirements must have been fulfilled prior to the accumulation of 80 credits toward the undergraduate degree.
  • Saadiq Muhammad, a resident of Somerset, and a student at FDU’s Florham, has been inducted into the Phi Zeta Kappa honor society. Eligibility for membership in the University’s junior honor society is established by completing at least the first 60 credits toward an undergraduate degree. Of these, 44 must have been earned at Fairleigh Dickinson and a CGPR of 3.20 must have been maintained for all of them. All the preceding requirements must have been fulfilled prior to the accumulation of 80 credits toward the undergraduate degree.
