A township resident was recently installed as president of the National Filipino American Lawyers Association.

Jhanice V. Domingo, a partner at the Morris County law firm of Einhorn Harris, was installed in the position at NFALA’s annual conference in San Diego, Ca. on November 3. Her term will run through November 2017.

“We are extremely proud of Jhanice taking on the vital role of president of the National Filipino American Lawyers Association,” Patricia M. Barbarito, managing partner of Einhorn Harris, said in a press release. “Since joining Einhorn Harris more than a decade ago, Jhanice has worked tirelessly, with passion and purpose, always exhibiting an extremely high level of professionalism and relentless determination to achieve the very best results on behalf of her clients. We have no doubt that she will tackle her responsibilities as president with the same passion and purpose that she serves the firm’s and her clients.”

Domingo is a partner with Einhorn Harris’s Family Law Department where she manages mediation of simple divorce cases and litigation of complex, high-asset divorce matters. She navigates the legalities and sensitivities surrounding a wide variety of family law matters involving child custody, alimony, child support, equitable distribution, palimony, pre- and post-nuptial agreements, same-sex marriage and domestic violence.

Domingo has served on the New Jersey Supreme Court Family Practice Committee since 2011. She was named to the New Jersey Super Lawyers Rising Stars List in 2009-2010, 2012-2013, and 2015-2016 and in 2013, she was one of 50 New Jersey attorneys selected by New Jersey Law Journal to receive the New Leaders of the Bar Award. She is also one of 100 early-to-mid-career minority attorneys to be selected in the Lawyers of Color Inaugural Eastern Region 2013 Hot List.

In addition, Domingo received an AV Preeminent Peer Review Rating from Martindale-Hubbell and was selected for inclusion into the 2013 edition of the Martindale-Hubbell Bar Register of Preeminent Women Lawyers (exclusively for female attorneys who have received the highest possible rating in both legal ability and ethical standards from their peers).

Additionally, Domingo is a past president of the Asian Pacific American Lawyers Association of New Jersey (APALA-NJ) and the chairperson of APALA-NJ’s Judicial and Prosecutorial Appointments Committee. She also serves as vice president of the legal section of the Philippine American Chamber of Commerce and is a member of the Korean American Family Service Center and its benefit committee.

Domingo was born in Manila, Philippines and is fluent in Tagalog. She has resided in New Jersey since moving to the United States at the age of nine. She earned degrees in Psychology and Women’s Studies from Boston College in 1999, and earned her J.D. from Seton Hall University School of Law in 2002.
