Township Police Department Gets New Sergeant

17-year veteran worked with FBI's Human Trafficking Task Force

A 17-year veteran of the township Police Department became the force’s newest Sergeant Nov. 12.

Sean Hebbon, who had been a detective assigned to the Juvenile Bureau, received his oath from Township Clerk Ann McCarthy. Hebbon’s wife, Kisha, held the Bible for him.

Before the ceremony, Hebbon said he was excited about his new position, even though it means working midnight shifts.

“It feels great,” said Hebbon, who was a school teacher before becoming a police officer. “It’s a good opportunity.”

This was Hebbon’s second crack at the Sergeant’s promotion, said Police Chief Lawrence Roberts. And while Hebbon did not make it the first time, “he came out number one” the second time, Roberts said.

“It was an extensive testing process,” Robert said. “I’m very proud of him.”

Hebbon had been assigned to the detective bureau’s juvenile division, he said. He also worked with the FBI’s Human Trafficking and Child Pornography Task Force, Roberts said.
