Township 4th Grader To Participate In National STEM Educational Program

A township 4th Grader will be among the students taking part in an academic and career-oriented educational program this summer.

Kimberly Osenenko, a student at Elizabeth Avenue Elementary School, will participate in “National Youth Leadership Forum: Pathways to STEM,” a program in Philadlephia presented by Envision, a company that develops education programs for students in elementary school through college.

Pathways to STEM is one of the Envision family of programs that enable students to explore their interests and experience learning beyond the classroom, according to a press release from the company.

Osenenko was nominated by her science teacher, Mrs. Tina Wojtowicz, to attend the week long program.

According to the release, “Kimberly has always had a keen interest in science and has been a part of her school’s
gifted and talented program for science since its inception. During a recent remodel, she turned her bedroom into a science
lab and she plans to be a chemist when she grows up. Kimberly is very excited to have a chance to dive deeper into
different branches of science and also to meet other like minded students.

“She’d like to thank everyone who helped her fundraise to make this opportunity possible, especially all her Aunties and
her mom and dad,” the release said.

“Pathways to STEM is a great opportunity for high-achieving scholars to get outside the classroom and see, through hands-on interactive learning, how to innovate and think creatively,” Andrew Potter, Envision’s chief
academic officer, said in the release.

“These students, who have already proven themselves academically, will be challenged to work on real-world, student-created projects to bring their studies and career interests to life,” he said in the release.
