The third annual “BeerFest” fundraiser for the Franklin Food Bank is set for noon to 5 p.m. April 1 at Suydam Farms, Route 27 and Skillmans Lane.

Formerly known as “Going for the Green,” the fundraiser’s name was changed because of the misconception that it was connected with St. Patrick’s Day, according to the food bank’s web site.

What it is all about, said the food bank’s Nancy LaCorte, is beer, music and fun.

“We have awesome live music, craft beers donated through Scarlet Knight Liquors, we have brats, hot dogs and wings” and vegetarian options, she said. “Lots of good food.”

“It’s a beautiful setting,” LaCorte said of the farm. “It doesn’t matter if it rains because you’re enclosed (in the greenhouse); if it’s sunny it’s even better, you can open the doors and jam out on the music and have a really good time.”

Musical entertainment for the day is Screamin’ Rebel Angels, Crash Gordon and Debra Dynamite and Kevin Hill. Sound is being provided by Iguana Music & Sound.

Tickets for the event are $30 before March 15 and $40 at the door, and include food, music, wine and craft beer samples.

Early registrants receive a commemorative cup. You must be 21 and older to attend.
