Teasley Perfect For Patriots, But Ducks Win In Extras

Bridgewater, New Jersey – The Long Island Ducks (7-7, 50-34) defeated the Somerset Patriots (5-9, 47-37) 1-0 in ten innings at TD Bank Ballpark on Friday evening.

Starter Rick Teasley was flawless for his nine innings of work and was in line for the first ever perfect game in team history. He finished with seven strikeouts in a no decision despite an extraordinary effort.

“I try to throw a perfect game every time I pitch,” Teasley said. “Near the third inning was when I thought I may do this. I just have to get through the order two more times. Guys were making unbelievable plays out there and it was exciting. I kept trying to remind myself to relax and just execute pitches.”

The Ducks lone hit and run came off the bullpen in the top of the tenth inning. D’Arby Myers drove an RBI single over a leaping Will Kengor at third that just cleared his glove for the 1-0 final.

Cody Mincey (5-0) picked up the win with three strikeouts in 1.2 innings pitched. Tyler Cloyd (0-1) suffered the loss, allowing an unearned run in an inning pitched. Michael Tonkin earned his third save of the season with a scoreless 0.1 innings pitched.
