St. Matthias School Evacuated After Written Bomb Threat Found

A “limited number” of St. Matthias School students were evacuated for a short time March 10 after a written bomb threat was found on a door of a 4th grade classroom, police said.

Police said the threat was found by a teacher at the John F. Kennedy Boulevard school shortly after 8 a.m. The not said that a bomb was going to go off later in the day, police said.

Those students in the building were evacuated to another building on the campus, police said.

Police noted that the handwriting on the note “appeared to be that of a child,” and that school-wide, standardized testing was scheduled for the day. A cursory search by police and school staff revealed nothing out of the ordinary. police said, so students were allowed to re-enter the building at about 9:30 a.m.

Township police and the school’s staff are investigating the incident, police said.
