The general manager of the Somerset Wendy’s restaurant on Easton Avenue has been named one of Wendy’s 200 Top general managers for 2017.

Wiilly Diez has been with the Wendy’s Company since 1997, according to a press release. He and the other top general managers were recognized recently at the Wendy’s Restaurant Support Center “for their leadership, performance, dedication, and continuing service to the Wendy’s brand,” according to the release.

“Wendy’s is part of my family,” Diez said in the release. “I have spent the majority of my life here, and I am so proud and grateful for all of the opportunities that Wendy’s has given me and my family.”

Diez works for franchisee Briad Wenco LLC.

“Willy began working at Wendy’s in 1997 as a crew member in our location in the Woodbridge Mall,” Colin Kelly, operations director for Briad Wenco, said in the release. “In the past twenty-one years with Wendy’s, Willy’s career has flourished from dishwasher to Top 200 General Manager! It shows not only the hard work and dedication that he has put into his business, but also the great opportunity that Wendy’s has to offer to every person who comes from behind our counter. I’m very proud of Willy’s accomplishments.”

The Wendy’s system is 95 percent franchise-owned and operated, and GMs from the entire Wendy’s global network of more than 6,600 restaurants were evaluated against set criteria, such as customer satisfaction scores and customer count growth, according to the release. A total of 530 GMs met the initial criteria and the Top 200 were selected by a committee comprised of franchisee and company leadership. The Top 200 represent 175 GMs from the United States, 15 GMs from Canada, and 10 GMs from other international restaurant locations.
