Somerset Patriots Sign LHP Daniel Herrera

herreraBridgewater, NJ- The Somerset Patriots have announced the signing of left-handed pitcher Daniel Herrera.

Herrera has Major League experience with the Cincinnati Reds, Milwaukee Brewers, and New York Mets. He last pitched in the Majors during the 2011 season, including 16 games for the Mets where he finished 0-1 with a 1.13 ERA and five strikeouts in eight innings pitched.

In his three seasons with Cincinnati, he appeared in 113 games and had a 5-7 record, a 3.62 ERA, and 66 strikeouts. He has a Major League career 5-8 record, a 3.72 ERA, and 71 strikeouts in 101.2 innings pitched in 131 games.

Herrera also has experience in the Texas Rangers organization. He has four seasons of Triple-A experience, most recently in 2012.

He spent the 2013 season in the Atlantic League with the Long Island Ducks, where he finished with a 2-1 record, a 5.03 ERA, and 14 strikeouts in 19.2 innings in 23 games pitched.

Herrera has a minor league career 23-16 record, a 2.87 ERA, and 314 strikeouts in 322.2 innings in 214 games.

He has been activated for Friday night’s game against the Long Island Ducks.
