Second Township Dollar Tree Store Set To Open Early November In Former Rite Aid Site

Franklin will be getting a second Dollar Tree store with the scheduled opening of an Elizabeth Avenue location on Nov. 8.

The store will fill the space formerly occupied by Rite Aid, 464 Elizabeth Ave., before the location was closed after the sale of more than 2,000 Rite Aids to Walgreen’s.

Dollar Tree has another location in the Rutgers Plaza on Easton Avenue.

“Dollar Tree continues to grow and we are proud to be part of the Somerset community,” company spokesperson Kayleigh Painter said in an email.

The 14,735-square-foot store will be open seven days a week, Painter said, although she said operating hours are not yet set.

The store will carry items such as seasonal decor, household products, party and craft supplies, dinnerware, food, teaching and school necessities, health and beauty essentials, toys and books, she said.

Painter said the decision of where to locate new stores is based on “a proprietary site selection process, which includes a review of market demographics (average age, average income, population, population trend, etc.), as well as the competitive landscape in the market.”

She said Dollar Tree stores of this size typically employ between 12 and 20 people.

Those interested in applying for a job in the store can apply online at www.DollarTree.com or in person at the store location, she said.
