Road Warriors Edge Patriots 3-2

Bridgewater, NJ- The Road Warriors (9-37, 26-83) defeated the Somerset Patriots (25-21, 60-49) 3-2 at TD Bank Ballpark on Tuesday evening.

The Road Warriors took a 1-0 lead on a Melvin Rodriguez-Ortiz RBI single in the top of the third inning. 

The Patriots tied up the game in the bottom of the fourth inning on a sacrifice fly by Justin Trapp.

The Road Warriors regained the lead in the top of the sixth inning on an RBI fielder’s choice by Jose Julio-Ruiz.

The Road Warriors added an insurance run in the top of the ninth inning on an RBI single by Rodriguez-Ortiz, who finished the game 3-for-5 with two RBI.

Jayce Boyd crushed a solo home run (2) in the top of the ninth inning that cut the lead to 3-2, which would be the final.

Kelvin Villa (6-10) allowed an unearned run on four hits in six innings pitched for the win. Duane Below (7-6) took the loss, allowing two runs on nine hits in six innings pitched. Andrew Johnston earned his 12th save of the season.

The 2018 Somerset Patriots Season presented by Ford will continue at home on Wednesday, August 29th with a 7:05 pm game against the Road Warriors.
