Resurfacing Planned For Stretch Of Canal Road

Resurfacing of another portion of Canal Road is on the Township Council’s to-do list this year.

Councilman Ted Chase, (D-Ward 1) said at the Feb. 3 meeting that money to resurface the road from Route 518 to Griggstown would be included in the 2015 capital budget.

The project has been delayed, Chase said, by the state’s plan to dredge the Delaware & Raritan River Canal.

That project, he said, has been delayed because the state “is not sure where they will truck the dredged spoils to.”

Even if that project were to get underway quickly, he said, it wouldn’t be finished until 2019.

“We can’t wait that long for resurfacing,” Chase said.
