Queens Bridge Closed Sept. 8; Expected To Last Two Months

The Queens Bridge between South Bound Brook and Bound Brook is expected to be closed for two months, starting Sept. 8.

The Queens Bridge between South Bound Brook and Bound Brook is expected to be closed at 9 p.m. Sept. 8 for emergency repairs.

The repairs should last about two months, said Stephen Schapiro, a spokesman for the state Department of Transportation.

Schapiro said the work will not entail a replacement of the bridge, just repairs to the bridges superstructure.

The posted detour from the Franklin Township side of the Raritan River will be Canal/Weston Canal Road to Route 287 to Route 28, Schapiro said.

Schapiro said more details would be released after Labor Day weekend.
