Open Monday-Friday 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Body & Brain Yoga with Lucy Pagnetti – Monday, 10:30 a.m. Advance registration required; a $5.00 donation is suggested per class. Body and Brain Yoga is a dynamic mind-body practice that combines stretching, flowing movement, deep breathing exercises and meditation in a simple and easy to learn format that focuses on the development of the body’s core strength as the basis of physical, mental and spiritual health. Bring mats or you can use a chair.
Bridge Lessons – Every Friday, 10:30 a.m.

Computer Instruction – Every Monday, 9:00-12:00 p.m. (Please call for appointment.)

Continuing Art Institute with Karen Haake – Every Tuesday, 1:00-3:00 p.m. (There is a $10.00 fee, which includes supplies)

Healthy Bones Exercise Class with Joan Ackerman – Monday, 9:15 a.m. (Doctor’s Note Needed for Class)

Line Dancing – Every Friday, 9:30 a.m.

Outdoor Shuffleboard and Horseshoes – Available daily, weather permitting.

Variety of Board & Card Games (such as Dominoes & Checkers) – Available Daily

October 1 – Bingo Tournament, 10:30 a.m. (Bingo, as one of the first games learned at an early age, is still going strong today with many variations! Join the players and see for yourself as we play ‘Black Out,’ ‘4 Corners,’ ‘Combination,’ ‘Odd/Even’ and ‘Health’ and ‘Geography’ Bingo).

October 2 – “Emergency Preparedness” by Cynthia Voorhees, Eldercare Services Administrator, Somerset County Office on Aging & Disability Services, 10:30 a.m. (Cynthia will present various ways you can prepare yourself for any type of emergency).

October 6 – “Pneumonia Clinic: Pneumococcal Pneumonia Seminar & Vaccinations” by Rite Aid Pharmacy, 10:30 a.m. (Join Arpita for a comprehensive overview on the symptoms, causes and treatment options for this serious respiratory infection. A vaccination clinic will follow.)

October 7 – “Colon Health” by Denise Gerhab, RN, BSN, Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, 10:30 a.m. (Denise will discuss ways you can keep your colon healthy).

October 8 – “Name That Tune” by Robert Norton, 10:30 a.m. (This is the first of a 3-part series. For today’s class get in touch with your inner musical abilities and learn how to play notes on an electronic keyboard).

October 9 – Hillsborough Farm Harvest Festival Trip (The Fall Season is such a beautiful time of year with the leaves changing colors and the smell of hot apple cider in the air. Pick a pumpkin to paint, jump on a hayride, do the haunted maze if you dare or simply enjoy the natural outdoors with a steaming cup of coffee and hot cider).

October 12 – Center Closed

October 13 & 27 –Tai Chi with Bobbi Joels, 10:30 a.m. (Tai chi is based on shifting body weight through a series of light, controlled movements that flow rhythmically into one long, graceful gesture. Studies have reported that some participants experience a reduction of pain, fatigue and stiffness and gain a greater sense of well-being. Regular tai chi can help reduce falls, especially for those with balance problems. This program can be done using a chair for support if desired).

October 14, 28 & 30 – Learn the Basic Portuguese Language with Fernanda Bernalise, 10:30 a.m. (This is part seven of Quail Brook’s Language Around the World series).

October 15 – Zumba Gold with Laurie Fetcher, Licensed Zumba Gold Instructor, 10:30 a.m. (Zumba is an aerobic fitness program featuring movements inspired by various styles of Latin American dance. There are several benefits of Zumba such as strengthening of the cardiovascular system and bones, improving range of motion and good posture).

October 16 – A Captivating Community Theatre Performance by the McCarter Theatre, 10:30 a.m. (Recognized as a leading regional theatre for both professional theatre production and major presenter of performing arts, the community outreach ensemble will be our special guests for a magical theatre experience).

October 20 – Trip to Duke Farms, 10:30 a.m. (Quail Brook visits the oasis of nature in the heart of Hillsborough. Learn how Duke Farms serves as a model of environmental stewardship and inspires people to become more educated on how to preserve our environment. You’ll be in awe of the magnificent Orchid Exhibit!)

October 21 – “New Jersey Owls” by the Somerset County Park Commission Environmental Education Center, 10:30 a.m. (Learn about the nocturnal world of these fascinating birds of prey. Whether long or short eared, barred or great horned, these raptors are truly special).

October 22 – “Music Appreciation in Notes” by Robert Norton, 10:30 a.m. (This is the second part of our three part series. We will continue to learn how to play notes on an electric keyboard).

October 23 – The Mural of the Story: Quail Brook’s Participants Country of Origin Triptych Wall Art, by Emily Russoniello, Local Artist and Villagers Theatre Supporter 10:30 a.m.

October 29 – “An Original Song Composition” by Robert Norton, 10:30 a.m. (In this third session we will create an original, lyrical and musical composition on the electronic keyboard).

October 30 – Quail Brook Senior Center Costume Contest, 11:30 a.m. (Come dressed in your Halloween costume. Vote on the best, scariest, funniest and most creative costumes).
