Body & Brain Yoga with Lucy Pagnetti – Monday, 10:30 a.m. (Body and Brain Yoga is a dynamic  mind-body practice that combines stretching, flowing movement, deep breathing exercises and meditation in a simple and easy to learn format that focuses on the development of the body’s core strength as the basis of physical, mental and spiritual health. Bring mats or you can use a chair) (Advanced registration is required.)

Computer Instruction – Monday and Tuesday, 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. (Please call for appointment.)

Healthy Bones Exercise Class with Joan Ackerman – Monday, 9:15 a.m. (Peer-led, 24-week exercise and education program for individuals at risk or who have osteoporosis.  Exercises focus on balance, strength, flexibility and posture.  Advanced registration is required.  Doctor’s note is also required prior to first class and then once every year).

Continuing Art Institute with Karen Haake – Tuesday, 1:00-3:00 p.m. ($10.00 fee includes supplies).

Line Dancing – Friday, 9:30 a.m.

Bridge Lessons – Friday, 10:30 a.m.

Card Sharks – Friday, 10:30 a.m. (Learn how to play various card games for group play and/or tournament participation).

A Variety of Board & Card Games (i.e., Monopoly, Po-Ke-No, Yahtzee, Dominoes & Checkers) – Available Monday – Friday

Outdoor Shuffleboard and Horseshoes – Monday – Friday, Weather Permitting

(NEW) QBC News –Monday-Friday 10:00-10:30 a.m. (Enjoy breaking news around the world or current events of interest for a stimulating Question and Answer as fellow center members take turns researching and sharing the hot topics of the day).

July 4 – Holiday – Center Closed

July 5 & 15 – “Bollywood: Learn Traditional Indian Dance & Culture as a Unique Form of Exercise” with the Shivalay Dance Academy, 10:30 a.m. (In this program, you will learn the fundamentals, styles and techniques of traditional Indian dance movements such as Bhangara, Bollywood, Garba and Kathak with Hip-Hop and modern dance that provides for a unique exercise experience that blends history and culture).

July 6 – “Take a Dip out of This: Fresh, Healthy & Fun” by Genesis Healthcare, 10:30 a.m. (We will make natural herb infused dipping oils. The dipping oils can be given as a unique gift for birthdays and holidays).

July 7 – “Ariring: The Traditional Korean Fan Dance with Jane Hu and the members of the Praise the Lord Presbyterian Church (Get immersed in the beautiful and symbolic art of the ancient fan dance).

July 8, 14 & 29 – Electric Keyboard Lessons: Western Themed Music Appreciation with Robert Norton & the “Quailers” 10:30 a.m. (Hone your newly found musical abilities; learn how to play favorite songs and ‘practice-practice-practice!’)

July 12 & 26 – Tai Chi with Bobbi Joels, 10:30 a.m. (Tai chi is based on shifting body weight through a series of light, controlled movements that flow rhythmically into one long, graceful gesture.  Studies have reported that some participants experienced a reduction in pain, fatigue and stiffness and gain a greater sense of well-being. Regular tai chi can help reduce falls, especially those with balance problems.  This program can be done using a chair for support if desired).

July 12 – State Health Insurance Program (SHIP) A counselor will be available to provide Free help to New Jersey Medicare beneficiaries who have problems with, or questions about their health benefits.  SHIP is a statewide program by the New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services.  Please call (732) 563-4213 to schedule an appointment).

July 13 – “Protect Yourself: Learn How & What to Do… (Active Shooter or Other Threats)” by Frank Provenzano, Sheriff, Somerset County Sheriff’s Office, 10:30 a.m. (Sheriff Provenzano will provide tips on how to protect yourself should you be involved in a threatening situation).

July 14 – Zumba Gold with Laurie Fetcher, 11:00-12:00 p.m. (The original concept of Zumba combines a dance workout with a party-like atmosphere.  Zumba Gold takes the popular Latin-dance inspired workout of Zumba and makes it accessible for people age 60 plus, beginners or others needing modifications in their exercise routine.  Zumba Gold builds cardiovascular health by challenging the heart and working the muscles of the hips, legs and arms with dance moves.  This program can be done using a chair for support if desired).

July 18 – 7 Wonders of the World: Quail Brook’s 4th Annual Golf Tournament” with the Ladies Golf League, 10:30 a.m. (Test your skills as three teams vie for top billing as ‘Champion of the Hole in One’ and ‘Highest Scoring Team.’  The Quail Brook Senior Center will be transformed into obstacle courses such as The Great Pyramid, etc.  Prior knowledge of golf is not required.  Equipment will be provided).

July 19 –“Wellness Template for Life” by Dr. Sharon Joag, DPM, East Brunswick Foot Care, 10:30 a.m. (Dr. Joag will present ways in which to incorporate positive aspects of life.  In turn, these areas can help keep one more focused with motivation towards being satisfied, happy and healthy at an achievable level).

July 21 – “Women Airforce Service Pilots of WWII” by Carol Simon Levine, Youth Services Librarian, Bridgewater Branch, Somerset County Library System, 10:30 a.m. (During World War II, more than one thousand women volunteers completed the WASP military pilot training program.  They endured terrible Texas weather, snakes, spiders and scorpions, as well as the hostility of some male instructors.  Carol Simon Levine tells the story of the amazing WASPs through the eyes of Ann Baumgartner, the Jersey girl who trained as a WASP, became the only American woman to test-fly experimental planes during the war, and the first woman in the world to fly a jet airplane).

July 22 – “Ocean Life: Sharks, Devil Fish & Ocean Oil Spills” by Gloria Hoffner, Author of Science for Seniors, 10:30 a.m. (In this program participants will learn about the vast variety of ocean life).

July 27 – “Capturing Live Theatre: The History of Theatrical Photography” with Jim DelGuidice, Photojournalist, 10:30 a.m. (Live theatre is the most ephemeral of the arts.  Although photography can’t reproduce the full experience of a play, the best photos can forever capture its unique moments.  Jim examines the history of theatrical photography from the time of Daguerre to the present).

July 28 – “Thrill’n & Grill’n: A Picnic at Colonial Park, 10:30 a.m. (Join us for summer fun, food and friends at the second Annual Picnic in the Park.  Get sizzling as we groove to the tunes of the season provided by DJ Gio.  Remember, a picnic isn’t complete without good old fashioned games such as ‘beach’ volleyball and horseshoes.  Also, test how limber you are and join the crowd in a friendly game of limbo to see how low you can go…all followed by lunch grilled under the sun! Rain or Shine (Pavilion/Tents Available)!
