January 8, 15, 22 & 29 – “Take Control of Your Health: Diabetes Self-Management Program,”

10 a.m. – 12 p.m. (Participants will learn techniques for dealing with symptoms of diabetes, including pain, fatigue, hyper/hypoglycemia, stress and depression.  The program will also provide information about improving strength and endurance, working effectively with health care providers, appropriate use of medication and healthy eating habits.  Each participant will receive a book, titled “Living a Healthy Life with Chronic Conditions.”  This project was supported, in part by grant number 90CS0042-02-00, from the U.S. Administration for Community Living, Department of Health and Human Services, Washington D.C. 20201.  Grantees undertaking projects under government sponsorship are encouraged to express freely their findings and conclusions.  Points of view or opinions do not, therefore, necessarily represent official Administration for Community Living policy.)

January 13 & 27 – Ageless Grace: A New Exercise Program by Roz Gerken, 10:30 a.m. (This is a timeless fitness program for the body and mind for lifelong comfort and ease.  Learn simple tools and activities that include right and left brain stimulation and physical movement.)

January 14 – “Mood Foods: Using Healthy Foods to Beat the Blues” by Allison Napolitano, RD, Shoprite/Wakefern, 10:30 a.m.

January 16 – “The Mind-Body-Spirit Connection: Cognition & Brain Health” by Dr. Rashmi Srinivas, Summit Medical Group, Bridgewater Family Medicine, 10:30 a.m.

January 19 – Holiday – Center Closed

January 20 – “Painting with Acrylics Brush Up Art Lesson” by Karen Haake, Local Artist, 1 – 3 p.m.

January 26 – Music for the New Year Performance by the Spring Hills Assisted Living Ding Dong Bell Choir, 10:30 a.m.

January 27 – “Creating Artwork for the Veterans” by Karen Haake, Local Artist, 1 – 3 p.m. (Create artwork for the Lyons VA Hospital.)

January 28 – Bingo Tournament, 10:30 a.m.
