Bridge Lessons – Every Friday, 10:30 a.m.
Body & Brain Yoga with Lucy Pagnetti – Monday, 10:30 a.m. Advance registration required; $5.00 donation suggested per class. Body and Brain Yoga is a dynamic mind-body practice that combines stretching, flowing movement, deep breathing exercises and meditation in a simple and easy to learn format that focuses on the development of the body’s core strength as the basis of physical, mental and spiritual health. Bring mats or you can use a chair.
Computer Instruction – Every Monday, 9:00-12:00 pm (Please call for appointment.)
Continuing Art Institute with Karen Haake – Every Tuesday, 1:00-3:00 pm (There is a $10.00 fee, which includes supplies)
Healthy Bones Exercise Class with Joan Ackerman – Monday, 9:15 a.m. (Doctor’s Note Needed for Class)
Line Dancing – Every Friday, 9:30 a.m.
Outdoor Shuffleboard and Horseshoes – Available Daily and Weather Permitting
Variety of Board & Card Games (such as Dominoes & Checkers) – Available Daily
August 3 – “Pure Gold: The Voices & Songs of Lady Singers” by Kristen and Ashley, the Pettit Sisters, 10:30 a.m. (This program that will bring to light the talents of, important changes and cultural impacts made by women singers over the decades).
August 4 & 18 – Chair Tai Chi with Bobbi Joels, 10:30 a.m. (Chair tai chi is a graceful form of exercise accomplished while sitting in a chair that involves a series of fluid movements performed in a slow, focused manner.  The style of exercise is thought to promote serenity with a sense of well-being and can often be used for stress reduction).
August 5 – Craft: Western Inspired Tee-Shirts with Karen Haake, Local Artist and Joann Foster, Willow Creek Rehabilitation Center, 10:30 a.m. (Bring out your inner Cowgirl or Cowboy and join us as we turn every day tee-shirts into unique and personalized Western garb just in time to wear for our Annual Hee-Haw Hoe Down on August 20th. Tee-shirts, stencils and paint will be provided free of charge).
August 6 & 13 – “Take Control of Your Health: Chronic Disease Self-Management” by Caitlin Witucki, MS, Health promotion Specialist, Somerset County Office on Aging & Disability Services, 10:30-12:15 pm (The Take Control of Your Health, Chronic Disease Self-Management Program (CDSMP) is a highly interactive workshop designed to give people with chronic conditions (such as arthritis, heart disease, cancer, diabetes, asthma, etc.) and/or their caregivers the knowledge and skills needed to take a more active role in their health care.  Participants learn healthier ways to live, gain confidence and motivation to manage their health and feel more positive about life.  This program was supported, in part by grant number 90CS0042-02-00, from the U.S. Administration for Community Living, Department of Health and Human Services, Washington D.C., 20201.  Grantees undertaking projects under government sponsorship are encouraged to express freely their findings and conclusions.  Points of view or opinion do not, therefore, necessarily represent official Administration for Community Living policy).
August 7, 14, 21, 25 & 28 – Learn Basic Hindi & Customs with Bharti Trivedi, 10:30 a.m. (This is Part 5 of Quail Brook’s languages around the world series).
August 10 – “Understanding & Managing the Fat Content in Foods” by Tara Gunther, BSN, RN, BC, Saint Peter’s University Hospital, 10:30 a.m. (This is an inspiring program that will help you understand and manage the fat content in your meals for healthier choices and healthier living).
August 11 – “Socks, Sneakers & Shoes: The Triple S for Summer Feet” with Dr. Sharon Joag, DPM, East Brunswick Foot Care, 10:30 a.m. (This is a program that is designated to impart understanding on proper footwear for you ultimate foot health and safety).
August 12 – “Happiness Happens: Let’s Dance” by DJ Giovanni, 10:30 a.m. (Today we will take a special trip to the Manville Senior Center to celebrate “Happiness Happens” month with a day of dancing.  Be prepared to dance your feet off as we get down and boogie to those wild summer beats!)
August 19 – Armchair Travel Presents: “Traveling Through Eastern Europe” by Dorothy & Irwin Vogel, 10:30 a.m. (Passports are not required!  Simply sit back and enjoy the experience of vicariously visiting museums, cathedrals and synagogues filled with facts, history and music).
August 20 – Annual Hee-Haw Hoe Down with Entertainment by Richard Stillman, Actor, Musician, Singer, Storyteller, Tap Dancer and Teacher 10:30 a.m. (Today we will take a special trip to the Quail Brook Senior Center for a Hee-Haw Hoe Down.  This truly anticipated annual event will be a combination of a country show filled with the music of western swing (sung and played on various instruments), entertaining cowboy rope and hat tricks, western folklore/stories, clog dancing and line dance calling).
August 26 – “Healthy Habits for a Healthier You” by Rose Berger, MSW, Alzheimer’s Association, Greater New Jersey Chapter, 10:30 a.m. (This program is designed for individuals of any age who are looking for information on ways to age as well as possible.  Find ways to adopt lifestyle habits that can help maintain and potentially improve health by keeping your brain healthy.  This workshop will cover four areas of lifestyle habits that are associated with healthy aging).
August 27 – “Fly Me to the Moon: Trip to the Central Jersey Regional Airport,” 10:30 a.m. (Attendees will learn about the different types of planes, flights and clouds.  Each participant will also have the chance to “fly” in a plane simulator.  Make sure to join us for this exciting program!)
