Prosecutor: Paramus Man Bilked Township Business Out Of $1 Million

A Paramus man  was charged Aug. 1 with bilking the township company for which he worked out of $1 million over three years.

Mike Karapiperis, 48, was arrested at his home and charged with 2nd Degree Theft, according to a press release from the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office.

According to authorities, between 2012 and 2015 Karapiperis, an employee of Roadtex Transportation on Jensen Drive, overbilled another company more than $1 million and deposited the money into his personal account.

Karapiperis was responsible for arranging the cost of the freight deliveries between P & A Trucking and Roadtex Transportation, according to the release.

Karapiperis remains lodged at the Somerset County Jail, Somerville, on $75,000 cash bail, according to the release. If he makes bail, authorities said, he is to surrender his passport.
