Police Seek Public’s Help In Finding Man Wanted For Stabbing

Authorities are seeking the public’s help in locating the suspect in a May 8 stabbing in the Hempstead Drive area.

Township police received a 9-1-1 call at about 9:57 p.m. of shots fired in the area, according to a press release from the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office.

Responding police found a 28-year-old New Brunswick man lying on the ground outside of an apartment building. The man suffered two apparent stab wounds to the back of his head, according to the release.

The man, who was not identified, told police that he received the wounds while fighting with an an unknown assailant.

The victim was taken to an area hospital where his wounds were treated, according to the release.

Crime Stoppers of Somerset County, Inc. is offering a cash reward of up to $500 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspect in this incident, according to the release. Anonymous tipsters wanting to collect the reward are to call the Somerset County Crime Stoppers Tip line at (888) 577-TIPS (8477). Crime Stoppers Tips can also give tips online at www.888577tips.org or www.scpo.net and click on either “Crime Stoppers” or “TIPS HOTLINE”. Crime Stopper Tipsters will receive a “special code number” in order to collect the reward. All anonymous Crime Stopper tips will be kept confidential.
