Police Log: Sept. 25, 2013

Balbina Pelaee-Rivero of Somerset was driving her car on Millstone Road Sept. 25 when it was hit by a car driven by Theresa DeGuzman, also of Somerset, as it was pulling out of a parking lot. DeGuzman told police the sun got in her eyes, and she did not see the other car.

Pelaee-Rivero was cited for driving without a license, and DeGuzman was cited for failure to exhibit a required credential.

Jamil Brown of Somerset was cited for careless driving Sept. 25 after he told police that he didn’t notice traffic stopping on Easton Avenue, and his car rear-ended a car driven by William Campbell, also of Somerset. Campbell’s car was stopping for traffic, and the impact forced it into the car ahead of his, driven by Jeanette Abbot of Easton, Pa.

A herd of deer crossing Easton Avenue near Bloomfield Avenue Sept. 25 was blamed for a fender-bender between Justin O’Connell of Hewitt and Gavin Callum of Plainfield. O’Connell told police that he was traveling in the right lane when the deer ran out into the street. He switched lanes to avoid hitting them, but then his car was struck by Callum’s. A witness backed up the statement.

Cars driven by Sankarasu Ganapathy of Somerset and Thomas O’Kane of East Brunswick collided Sept. 25 in a parking lot on Davidson Avenue. Ganapathy told police he was driving through the lot when his car was struck by O’Kane’s. O’Kane said it looked ass though the other driver was “flying.”

Cars driven by Stanley Wojcik of Somerset and Larissa Pencak, also of Somerset, collided Sept. 25 while they were turning onto Cedar Grove Lane from different directions on Easton Avenue.

Wojcik was turning left, and Pencak was turning right; Wojcik said he had the turn light, but Pencak’s car did not make a complete stop before turning. Pencak said she had the green light.
